Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Are You a Candidate for Tummy Tuck Surgery?
The ideal tummy tuck candidate has had children with no plans for more. She has excess skin and/or fat of the abdomen which simply will not go away with diet and exercise. Her skin often bears stretch marks, and her abdominal wall musculature is often stretched or spread, leaving an unfortunate bulge. Tummy tuck corrects all of these problems.
What to Expect After Tummy Tuck Surgery
Abdominoplasty patients typically take 7-10 days off of work. Surgical drains, which are painless and easily managed, are typically in place for 1 week, and patients are allowed to shower with drains in place. Return to gentle cardiovascular exercise is allowed at 2 weeks if all healing is proceeding well. Full and unrestricted gym use, including heavy lifting and abdominal exercise, is allowed at 6 weeks.
This versatile and minimally invasive procedure lets our surgical team sculpt the contour of any part of the body. It can be performed by itself or in conjunction with a tummy tuck or buttock lift. Liposuction is perfect for reshaping the abdomen, flanks, back and inner thighs, as well as unsightly rolls at the bra line. We often use it to sculpt “double chins,” arms, knees, calves, and ankles into trim and beautiful form. Because liposuction is so useful, it is highly recommended for achieving small volume changes. The results can be truly transformative.
Are You a Candidate for Liposuction?
While liposuction is an extremely useful and versatile aesthetic surgical technique, it is a method of sculpture, not weight loss. The best results are obtained when small volume changes are the goal. As such, liposuction should not be employed in those patients who would be better served by losing weight. Done well, and in the appropriate candidate, however, liposuction can be truly transformative – giving beautiful form to virtually any part of the body.
What to Expect After Liposuction
Downtime following liposuction varies widely with the areas treated and the amount of fat removed. Typical suctioning of the abdomen, flanks, and back will necessitate a week to ten days off of work or vigorous exercise, with up to 3 months before all residual swelling has resolved and the final result has been realized. Smaller volume liposuction, under the chin for example, involves minimal downtime with typically one or two days off work, with the final result achieved in as little as a few weeks.
Fat Grafting/Buttock Augmentation
By transferring a patient’s own living fat cells from areas of excess to areas of deficiency, our surgical team can strategically sculpt and contour areas on the body and face. Fat is removed via liposuction, and carefully treated to remove all but viable, healthy fat cells. These are then strategically injected to sculpt and contour areas where youthful fullness is desired. In small volumes, we can permanently fill lines and hollowing in the face, lift and plump the cheeks, and enhance the contours of the lips. In larger volumes, we can pair this process with liposuction to achieve a Brazilian Butt Lift, creating attractive, full buttocks and a classic “hourglass” figure.
Are you a Candidate for Buttock Augmentation?
The ideal Brazilian Butt Lift candidate has sufficient “donor fat” – in the abdomen, flanks, lower back, and elsewhere – that can then be harvested via liposuction and transferred to a deficient buttocks. Those patients who are very thin, therefore, are less desirable candidates for buttock augmentation via fat grafting. Done well, Brazilian Butt Lift grants a full, feminine contour to a formerly shapeless or flat buttocks; coupled with liposuction to trim the waistline, results are dramatic and long-lasting.
What to Expect After Buttock Augmentation Surgery
Downtime following buttock augmentation with fat grafting is somewhat longer than with other procedures. Following surgery, patients must not sit down or put pressure on the grafted buttocks for two weeks, in order to allow “take” of the living fat in its new position.
