Dr. Sumayah Jamal is a board-certified dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City. Dr. Jamal completed her undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University.

She then went on to receive a combined M.D. and Ph.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine, where she also completed her dermatology residency training and subsequently, was a member of the full time dermatology research faculty for 8 years.

Dr. Sumayah Jamal is a board-certified dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City. Dr. Jamal completed her undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University.

Her research background provides her an in-depth under-standing of the cutting-edge science underlying many of current skin treatments. She is the recipient of many awards, including the Marion B. Sulzberger Dermatology Award at NYU, the American Academy of Dermatology Young Investigator Award, the American Academy of Dermatology Everett C. Fox M.D. Award, and the Pan American Society for Pigment Cell Research Young Investigator Award.

Her work has been published in many prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals including Nature, Cell and Oncogene. Dr. Jamal is also the founding director of the Ethnic Skin Clinic at NYU School of Medicine that specializes in medical and cosmetic treatments in skin of color. Dr. Jamal is currently a clinical assistant professor of dermatology and research assistant professor of microbiology at the New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Jamal believes that by addressing her patients’ top skin concerns and determining their individual’s goals are for their skin, she can tailor a treatment regimen that is specific to both medical and aesthetic needs, personal philosophies and lifestyle.

Schweiger Dermatology Group was founded to help make excellent dermatology care accessible throughout the Northeast. In 2010, Dr. Eric Schweiger started the practice with a single location in Midtown Manhattan. When he saw the need for high-quality dermatology care that did not require weeks or months of waiting to see a qualified provider, his vision of a multi-location practice was born.
