She graduated from Duke University majoring in biology, then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she graduated among the top of her medical school class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She also received a Master of Education from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Baker completed her internal medicine intern year at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and her dermatology residency at University of California San Francisco, where she served as medical education chief, leading curriculum development for residents and medical students in dermatology.
