She then completed a Family Practice residency at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base.

After residency, Dr. Fried served as an Air Force physician, practicing in both primary care and the emergency room settings. She attained the rank of Major before separating from the Air Force and returning to New York state.

Dr. Fried was in private practice for many years in primary care medicine in New Windsor, NY, Milford, PA, and Dutchess County, NY.
