About Ida M. Tiongco, MD, FAAD
Dr. Ida Tiongco is a board-certified dermatologist with over four decades of experience in clinical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and academic medicine.
She sees patients at Schweiger Dermatology Group and serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Tiongco earned her medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Manila, Philippines. She completed her dermatology residency at Weill Cornell Medicine–NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident from 1976 to 1977. She has been certified by the American Board of Dermatology since 1977.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Tiongco is deeply committed to dermatologic education and global volunteerism. She teaches dermatologic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and infectious disease dermatology to medical students and residents at Weill Cornell and internationally. She has played a significant role in dermatology education in the Philippines through visiting lectureships, postgraduate courses, and mentorship programs.
Dr. Tiongco is the founder and chief organizer of long-standing dermatologic surgery missions across underserved regions of the Philippines, including Bohol, Banaue/Ifugao, and Manila. Her volunteerism has been honored by multiple U.S. and international organizations.
She has contributed to dermatologic literature as editor of Practical Basic Dermatologic Surgery (2023) and Practical Intermediate Dermatologic Surgery (2024), both published in Manila. Dr. Tiongco remains dedicated to advancing global dermatologic care through service, education, and training.
Her personal interests include traveling, photography, music (ukulele, harmonica, piano), basketball, table tennis, reading, writing, and meditation.
