About Joseph J. Hong, MD
Dr. Hong is a dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group.
He has more than two decades of clinical and academic experience and currently serves as an assistant professor of dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Hong contributes to medical education and mentorship while maintaining a strong commitment to patient care.
He completed dermatology training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston and at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His expertise includes general dermatology as well as inflammatory and endocrine-related skin conditions. Dr. Hong has worked with global pharmaceutical companies to advance treatments in dermatology and systemic medicine.
He is an active member of several leading professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, Society for Investigative Dermatology, Dermatology Foundation and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Hong’s research interests include acne, psoriasis, hair loss and the psychosocial impact of skin diseases. His work has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Investigative Dermatology and Skin & Allergy News.
Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Hong is deeply involved in community service and international medical missions. He has volunteered at Hôpital Sacré-Cœur in Milot, Haiti, and participates in outreach programs with the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal in Atlantic City, supporting the homeless and victims of human trafficking.
In recognition of his dedication to service and excellence, Dr. Hong has received numerous honors, including the International Award from the Rotary Club of South Jersey, the Volunteer Service Award from the 177th Air Force Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, and the St. Luke’s Award from the South Jersey Catholic Medical Association.
