Derm DMs: Can You Use Body Lotion on Your Face?

Body lotion for face

Using body moisturizer or lotion on your face can get tricky, especially if you have a sensitive or oily skin type. And if you’re acne-prone, body moisturizers and lotions can do more harm to your face than good by clogging your pores. Ahead, we consulted with dermatologist Caren Waintraub, M.D., from Schweiger Dermatology for her take on the body lotion versus face moisturizer matter.

Is It OK to Use Body Lotion on the Face?

According to Dr. Waintraub, most (but not all) body lotions or moisturizers are simply not designed for the face. “Body lotions and creams are designed for areas of the skin that need more help in maintaining moisture, and because the face has many more oil glands than the body — they can leave the face feeling oily,” she says.
