Some experts argue that men’s and women’s skin types differ enough to warrant separate product lines. Others dismiss that as a tired, old-school approach.
ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL doesn’t work for basic T-shirts, so how could it ever work for something as personal as skin care? “Men and women have similarities in their skin—but differences as well,” said New York dermatologist Rachel Nazarian. Men tend to have thicker, oily skin and denser hair growth while women have less fuzz but thinner, drier skin. These variables, said Dr. Nazarian, “can make the need for different products necessary.”
