She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Arizona State University and completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Northern Arizona University in Phoenix, Arizona. She is board-certified and licensed in the State of California.

Shamila is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Associates. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, Pilates, beach days with her dog, and spending time with her family.
