Bernstein Medical Announces Scalp Micro-Pigmentation (SMP) Program

Provider treating patient for hair loss

Bernstein Medical, the hair loss division of Schweiger Dermatology Group now offers Scalp Micro-Pigmentation. The program, at our East 55th Street location, is led by hair restoration surgeon Dr. Christine Shaver and SMP Specialist Jennifer Oakley.

“We bring Scalp Micro-Pigmentation to Bernstein Medical in order to provide an effective non-surgical treatment option for our patients. SMP can be used in a variety of scenarios with the most popular uses being the camouflage of thinning areas of the scalp and disguising a prior surgical FUT scar. Effective use of SMP can allow patients to stop the use of fussy cosmetic concealers such as Toppik and provide a more elegant solution.”

What is SMP?

Scalp Micro-Pigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical, medical-grade tattooing procedure where tiny pigment deposits are placed within the upper dermis of the scalp. This simulates the appearance of naturally growing hair. For people who are balding or thinning, the goal of the SMP treatment is to create an illusion of thicker, fuller hair by placing pigment that matches the look of hair. Many people find that Scalp Micro-Pigmentation serves as a great option for hair loss, especially for those who would prefer a non-surgical cosmetic procedure.”

About Schweiger Dermatology Group

Schweiger Dermatology Group was founded to help make excellent dermatology care accessible throughout the Northeast. In 2010, Dr. Eric Schweiger started the practice with a single location in Midtown Manhattan. When he saw the need for high-quality dermatology care that did not require weeks or months of waiting to see a qualified provider, his vision of a multi-location practice was born.
