On Monday, May 1st, we partnered with skincare brand and leader in sun care, La Roche-Posay, for an event at Hudson Yards in New York City that drove nearly 2000 people to get their skin checked by a Schweiger Dermatology Group provider. The first Monday in May is Melanoma Monday and kicks off Skin Cancer Awareness Month, making it the perfect day to spread awareness and inspire New Yorkers to get their skin checked.

After a weekend of rain and cold weather, the sun came out while our providers busily checked guests for any signs of skin cancer, referring them to one of our local offices if they did catch something suspicious. We were proud to end the day with the amazing news that we conducted 1,988 screenings, A Guinness World Records record breaker for the Most Skin Cancer Screenings in 8 hours.

One in five Americans will get skin cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is imperative for favorable outcomes. Melanoma can be deadly if not caught in time. With early detection of melanoma, there is a 99% survival rate. Don’t forget to schedule your annual skin screening!

About Schweiger Dermatology Group

Schweiger Dermatology Group was founded to help make excellent dermatology care accessible throughout the Northeast. In 2010, Dr. Eric Schweiger started the practice with a single location in Midtown Manhattan. When he saw the need for high-quality dermatology care that did not require weeks or months of waiting to see a qualified provider, his vision of a multi-location practice was born.
