Winter 2026 Cosmetic Update
News on Ozempic Face & Exosomes
This Winter 2026 update is from Dr. David J. Goldberg, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology and Clinical Research at Schweiger Dermatology Group, who shares his perspective on the latest advances in non-invasive aesthetics.
At Schweiger Dermatology Group, we are always focused on helping you look and feel your best—using the most advanced, evidence-based, non-invasive treatments available. As we move into Winter 2026, I wanted to share two important topics we’re seeing more frequently in our offices: “Ozempic Face” and the exciting role of exosomes in skin health and rejuvenation.
Ozempic Face: When Weight Loss Affects the Face
GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic® and ZepBound® have helped millions of Americans achieve significant weight loss. While these results can be life-changing, rapid or substantial weight loss can sometimes lead to unintended facial changes, including volume loss in the cheeks and increased skin sagging.
Many patients are thrilled with their weight loss—but feel their face looks more tired or aged than before. The good news? These changes are very treatable.
At Schweiger Dermatology, we offer:
- Advanced dermal fillers to restore lost facial volume and soften hollowed areas
- Natural options using your own growth factors, derived from your blood and placed back into the skin to support collagen and volume
- Non-surgical skin tightening technologies, including radiofrequency and ultrasound-based treatments, to lift and firm sagging skin
When combined, these approaches can restore a refreshed, youthful appearance—without surgery. One important tip: earlier treatment leads to better, more natural-looking results.
Exosomes: A New Frontier in Skin & Hair Health
Exosomes are tiny, powerful messengers produced by human tissues (such as fat cells, platelets, and placental tissue) and even certain plants. Their role is to help cells communicate and repair themselves.
When applied to the skin, advanced exosome therapies may:
- Calm inflammation associated with eczema and rosacea
- Improve overall skin texture, tone, and signs of aging
- Support hair growth
- Enhance results when combined with Botox®, fillers, and laser or laser-like treatments
Exosomes can be applied in-office or used as part of an at-home skincare regimen. I’m especially proud that Schweiger Dermatology’s research team has played a leading role in exosome research, with findings published in respected dermatology journals.
