A native of Bellevue, Washington, Dr. Holmkvist earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Stanford University. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, where she participated in dermatology research. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University, followed by a dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota—an internationally recognized center for dermatologic training. As a senior resident she received a scholarship to present her skin cancer research at the World Congress of Dermatology.

She has authored multiple publications in the medical literature and has lectured at both national and international conferences. She is known for her precision, expertise, and commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Dr. Holmkvist has served as president of the Orange County Dermatological Society and has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for multiple years. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
