About Laura Ritter, FNP-BC
Laura is a certified family nurse practitioner at Schweiger Dermatology Group.
She specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Her interest in dermatology is deeply personal, stemming from her own family history of skin cancer. This background fuels her dedication to skin cancer prevention, early detection and educating patients about the importance of skin health.
Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Connecticut State University in 2015, then completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Sacred Heart University in 2022, graduating with honors. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and received the prestigious Julie G. Stewart Memorial Award for her dedication to caring for underserved and vulnerable populations.
Before transitioning into dermatology, Laura worked as a burn and intensive care unit nurse at the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. She then shifted to family medicine and primary care as a nurse practitioner, where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care.
Her passion for dermatology led her to complete the Schweiger Dermatology Group’s Advanced Practice Provider Training Program, where she received comprehensive training in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology under the mentorship of Dr. Susun Michales and other experienced providers.
Laura is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Dermatology Nurses Association. Her expertise, combined with her compassionate approach, makes her a trusted provider in the field of dermatology.
