Dr. Mona Selim is the Director of Clinical Research at Schweiger Dermatology Group’s Edina and Plymouth locations.

She is an accomplished medical researcher and scientist with more than two decades of experience in both basic science and clinical research.

Dr. Selim also offers cosmetic procedures such as SoftWave Therapy and Genesis Microneedling RF Laser treatments. She collaborates with Schweiger Dermatology Group providers who recommend their patients for these procedures.

Prior to partnering with Schweiger Dermatology Group, Dr. Selim worked in the clinical research department at Zel Skin & Laser Specialists since 2017, eventually becoming Director of Clinical Research where she directed, managed, coordinated and executed clinical trials and supervised research clinicians.

About Mona Selim, MD

She is an accomplished medical researcher and scientist with more than two decades of experience in both basic science and clinical research.

Prior to partnering with Schweiger Dermatology Group, Dr. Selim worked in the clinical research department at Zel Skin & Laser Specialists since 2017, eventually becoming Director of Clinical Research where she directed, managed, coordinated and executed clinical trials and supervised research clinicians.

She maintained accurate, up-to-date required documentation for IRB submissions and FDA regulations, while recruiting participants for research studies. In addition, she was responsible for manuscript preparations, grant applications and submissions for investigator-initiated studies.

Dr. Selim has spent most of her medical career in clinical research capacities with more than 10 years of combined service at Allina Health Services, Abbott Northwestern Hospital and the University of Minnesota School of Medicine departments of Dermatology and Neurology. She was a part of the initiated collaboration between those two departments, bridging the gap between skin disease and abnormal or dysfunctional epidermal/dermal nerves, now known as neurodermatology. She is well versed in immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy examining small nerve fibers in diseased skin while comparing it to normal skin.

She completed her undergraduate, graduate, medical internship and dermatology residency at the Ain Shams University and Ain Shams University Hospitals in Cairo, Egypt.
