About Andrew Philip Sauvageau, MD
Dr. Andrew Philip Sauvageau is a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon at Schweiger Dermatology Group.
He specializes in Mohs Micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, cutaneous reconstructive plastic surgery, laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology.
A native of Western New York, Dr. Sauvageau earned his medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo, graduating summa cum laude with research honors.
He was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and recognized as the graduating student with the highest academic performance in dermatology, pathology neuroanatomy and biochemistry coursework.
Dr. Sauvageau completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan. During residency, he served on both local and national committees, including the American Academy of Dermatology Patient Safety and Quality Committee and the University of Michigan House Officer Quality and Safety Council.
Following residency, he completed a highly competitive Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine. This integrative procedural fellowship featured extensive training in Mohs surgery, complex cutaneous oncology, cutaneous reconstructive and facial plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and laser surgery. During this fellowship, he trained under some of the most renowned dermatologic, cosmetic and facial plastic surgeons in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sauvageau has been actively involved in research, publishing numerous peer-reviewed articles in high-impact dermatology journals. He has presented at regional and institutional conferences, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of dermatology.
In addition to his clinical expertise, he is passionate about teaching and mentoring, serving as a private instructor for medical students and physicians preparing for the United States Medical Licensing Exams.
In his free time, Dr. Sauvageau enjoys rowing, biking, hiking, exploring the outdoors and rooting for the Buffalo Bills. He is excited to bring his skills and compassionate care to the Western New York community at Schweiger Dermatology Group.
