Botox Treatments

Botox treatments are among the most popular cosmetic treatment in the United States. With many people shying away from undergoing surgical cosmetic treatments, non-surgical alternatives, such as Botox, has enjoyed a huge surge. Botox came on the scene in the late 1990s and has quickly gained attention for its amazing ability to smooth wrinkles and overall refresh the appearance. Botox injections can be performed on the crow’s feet, forehead, neck for cosmetic purposes.

What Are Botox Injections?

A non-surgical alternative for addressing wrinkles and fine lines, Botox treatments have become immensely popular throughout the United States. Giving people younger looking skin and a newly refreshed glow, Botox injections have proven to be a fast and efficient way to combat the signs of aging. From frown lines, to forehead wrinkles, to acting as a “brow lift,” Botox injections are a convenient way for women and men to achieve the look they desire.

How Does Botox Work?

When injected for instance, under the eyes or around the lips, it relaxes the muscles underlying these problem areas, making the lines appear less deep, or in some cases completely erasing those lines. The Botox stays at the site where it has been injected and therefore triggers only those muscles associated with the forehead, or eye, or hairline. The procedure essentially works as a non-surgical lift, in which wrinkles soften and gradually diminish. If done regularly, Botox can be preventative and halt the formation of new and deeper wrinkles. With very little pain and effects that can last up to six months or longer, you get younger, firmer skin without surgery or other such complex procedures.

What does Botox Treat?

Highly successful as far as lessening the effects of wrinkles around the eyes, or those lines directly around the lips, Botox reduces the muscle activity in these areas and gives you a smoother, rejuvenated appearance. We’ve also had great success erasing those horizontal lines that run across the forehead, essentially taking years off of patients. Not to mention, able to treat sweating along the hairline, Botox injected into the scalp is becoming incredibly popular, particularly among women who enjoy working out without the excessive hairline perspiration.

What to Expect After Botox?

When performed by a licensed dermatology provider, the results of Botox will be smooth skin and wrinkles that have been softened if not erased with natural movement in those areas. Contrary to what some might think, your face is not frozen, but rather dramatically refreshed.

There may initially be some swelling at the site, and possibly slight bruising, but you can return to your normal activities immediately following the procedure.  After a few days, you will truly notice a difference–you will feel better about yourself, more confident in your skin and more satisfied with your overall appearance.

Botox Under Eyes

One of the best areas for Botox injections is the eye area, particularly under the eyes and around the eyebrows. Botox under the eyes is also often referred to as a “no-knife eye lift,” or a “Botox brow lift,” as it helps to give the eye area a younger and more lifted look. As we age, the eye lids can become heavy and make you look tired and older.

A surgical eye lift used to be the only answer, but Botox can help you achieve a non-surgical eye lift. When injected into the crow’s feet area, Botox relaxes the muscles that contribute to that droopy eyelid look. Under eye Botox can help reduce the appearance of those creases under the eyes that many people complain about.

Botox for Lips

Around the lips it can help with reducing fine lines. It is not for use in the lips, but around the lip area. If you are seeking a plumper look for the lips, a dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid can help add natural looking fullness to the lips. Botox injections can correct a “gummy” smile when strategically injected into the upper lip area.

Botox can also be used to treat the frown lines around the mouth. Those frown lines can make you look sad or upset. Botox should always be performed by a dermatologist or a licensed healthcare provider specializing in facial aesthetics.

Botox for Forehead

Forehead Botox is one of the most commonly requested treatments in our dermatology practice. Botox works by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles. Botox helps erase those horizontal lines on the forehead that get deeper with age and can make you look years older than your actual age. The longer you use Botox, the better your skin will look. Muscle movements create expression lines.

When Botox is performed regularly, it’s also a preventative measure and can prevent new wrinkles from forming. When Botox injections are performed by an experienced and licensed injector, they will erase the deep creases and wrinkles, while still allowing for movement in the injected area. The final result will make you look younger and more refreshed, not frozen.

Botox for Men

The number of men seeking cosmetic treatments has increased significantly in recent years, with terms like “Brotox” and “metrosexual” becoming a part of our regular vernacular. Many men are want to have a more youthful appearance in a competitive workplace. Botox injections are one of the most common cosmetic procedures requested by men.

Men prefer a flatter brow, which is the natural position for the male face. While women usually desire more of an arch. It’s crucial to seek out a dermatologist or licensed skincare professional with experience in treating male cosmetic patients. Botox is also a terrific treatment option for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), which is a common complaint in the male population.
