What Fraxel Can Do for Your Skin

Fraxel produces impressive results for patients looking to improve the tone, texture and overall appearance of their skin. Fraxel treats wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, aging skin, melasma, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, surgical scars, age spots and blood vessels. Fraxel works by treating a fraction of the skin at a time with microscopic laser columns, which regenerates collagen growth and jumpstarts the body’s natural process of healing the skin and replacing damaged skin. Fraxel can safely be used on the skin on your chest, hands, neck and face. Fraxel is a safe option for skin of color, as it does not affect the melanin in skin. Our staff of board-certified dermatologists and licensed skincare professionals customize Fraxel treatments for each individual patients’ needs and cosmetic goals. Fraxel offers significant change for cosmetic patients and provides a solution that you cannot receive from using just lotions and creams alone.

What to Expect During Your Fraxel Treatment

At Schweiger Dermatology, we want to our patients to be as comfortable as possible, so we apply a topical anesthetic to the skin prior to Fraxel treatments. Most patients describe the treatment to feel as a heated sensation on the skin. After the treatment, it might feel as though you have a sunburn for a few hours, but the feeling will subside and you will not feel any discomfort. Redness should go away and the skin will become pink for about five to seven days a following your treatment. Your skin will begin its rejuvenation process immediately and new epidermal skin will begin to develop immediately. During this process you will experience a bronzing look on the skin that could last up to 14 days. The dead surface skin cells will then begin to flake off as the newer skin begins to replace it. Use of a good moisturizer will help mask the look of flaking skin. It is also very important to wear sunscreen during the healing process. You will begin to notice a new look and feel to your skin.  You will look more youthful and your skin will be incredibly soft and even toned. Brown spots and discolorations will disappear and a youthful glow will expose itself.
