What to Expect During a Fraxel Treatment

At NYC’s Schweiger Dermatology Group, we want to ensure that you are completely comfortable throughout the Fraxel treatment. Many say that the sensation experienced is akin to that of heat on their skin. We do apply a topical anesthetic prior to performing Fraxel. Following the process, you might experience what feels like a sunburn—this is normal. After a few hours, the feeling subsides and there is no discomfort. The redness does go away relatively quickly, but the skin might still be pink for as long as 5-7 days. There could be a bronzing coloration for as long as two weeks. As the new skin grows, dead skin cells flake off. We always recommend to New York patients to use a good moisturizer to help with the flaking. And of course wear sunscreen. The results: youthful looking skin, even pigmentation and a smoother complexion.

After Fraxel
